Terms of Service

Welcome to House Finder. These terms are the deal between you and us when you use housefinderlive.com. We've kept them short and in plain English on purpose — but they're still a binding agreement, so give them a proper read. You accept these terms by ticking the agreement box when you create your account.

Who we are

House Finder is operated as a partnership based in New Zealand ("House Finder", "we", "us"). You can reach us any time at [email protected].

The short version

House Finder helps you find electronic music events across Australia and New Zealand, plan trips around them, and get alerts about artists you follow. We aggregate event listings from ticketing sites and promoters — we don't sell tickets, travel, or anything else. When you're ready to buy, we link you out to the people who do. Some of those links earn us a commission. It never costs you extra.

You must be 18 or older

House Finder is an 18+ platform. Many of the events we list are R18, and our audience is adults. We ask for your date of birth when you sign up and require it to show you’re 18 or over. If you're under 18, you can't create an account, and if we find out an account holder is under 18 we'll close the account.

By creating an account you confirm that your date of birth is accurate and that you're at least 18.

Your account

• One account, your account. Keep your login details to yourself. You're responsible for what happens under your account, so tell us straight away at [email protected] if you think someone else has access.
• Accurate info. Give us a real email address and a real date of birth. You can sign up with email and password, or through Google, Spotify, or Facebook.
• Free. Personal accounts are free. We don't take payment details from you.
• Public bits. Your username, avatar, bio, genres, and Instagram handle (all optional) may be shown on your profile. Don't put anything there you don't want seen.

Promoter accounts (for listing your own events) are separate and may carry additional terms we provide when you register as a promoter.

Event information — check before you buy

Our event listings are aggregated automatically from third-party sources — ticketing platforms like Resident Advisor, Ticketmaster, Flicket, Eventfinda, Eventbrite, Humanitix, Moshtix, Under the Radar, and others — plus events submitted by promoters.

That means:

• We're not the event organiser and we're not the ticket seller. Your ticket purchase is a contract between you and the ticketing site or organiser, on their terms.
• Details can be wrong or out of date. Dates, times, venues, line-ups, prices, and age restrictions can change after we collect them, and sometimes the source data is simply incorrect. Always confirm the details on the official ticketing page before you buy tickets, book flights, or book accommodation.
• Cancellations and refunds are the organiser's or ticket seller's responsibility, not ours.

We work to keep listings accurate, and nothing in this section limits your rights under the Fair Trading Act 1986 or the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 — but we can't guarantee information that originates from someone else.

Travel and ticket links — we may earn a commission

When you click out to book accommodation, flights, or tickets (for example via Expedia, Hotels.com, Wotif, or Booking.com), some of those links are affiliate links. If you buy something after clicking, we may earn a commission from the partner. This never changes the price you pay. It's how a free platform keeps the lights on.

We choose which partners to show based on what's useful for the trip you're planning; commission doesn't change the event listings themselves.

Keys — our rewards currency

Keys are House Finder's promotional rewards currency. Right now you can earn Keys (for example, a welcome bonus when you join, or rewards when a mate signs up with your invite link). Redemption — swapping Keys for things like drink or ticket discounts at partnered events — is coming and isn't live yet.

The rules on Keys:

• Keys have no cash value. They aren't money, property, or an investment. They can't be sold, transferred, exchanged for cash, or inherited.
• Keys are a promotional benefit, not something you buy. You'll never pay for Keys.
• Until redemption launches — and for any Keys you haven't yet redeemed — we can change how Keys are earned, what they're worth, what they unlock, or withdraw the programme entirely. We'll give reasonable notice of material changes, but pre-redemption Keys are not a debt we owe you.
• No gaming the system. Earning Keys through fake accounts, self-referrals, false attendance claims, automation, or exploiting bugs isn't on. We can reverse Keys obtained that way and may close the accounts involved.
• Redemption offers, once live, will have their own conditions (participating events, expiry, limits) shown at the time.

Referrals

If you share your invite link and a mate signs up, you may both receive Keys. Referral rewards are part of the Keys programme and carry the same rules — including that we can cap, change, or reverse rewards that look like farming rather than genuine invites.

Emails and notifications

When you create an account we send you service emails (like a welcome email) and, based on your preferences, alert emails: new shows from artists you follow, reminders for events you've saved, and a weekly digest. You control all of these:

• Every marketing-style email has a working one-click unsubscribe link.
• You can switch each email type on or off — or pause everything — in Account → Settings at any time.
• Web push notifications only happen if you turn them on in Settings, and you can turn them off there (or in your browser) whenever you like.

Acceptable use

Don't:

• use House Finder if you're under 18, or help someone under 18 use it;
• scrape, harvest, or bulk-copy our site or data, or hammer the service with automated requests;
• upload anything unlawful, hateful, or abusive (this includes your avatar, bio, and username);
• impersonate other people, artists, venues, or promoters;
• interfere with the service's security, probe for vulnerabilities, or access other people's accounts or our admin systems;
• use the platform to spam anyone;
• misrepresent events (this one's for promoters especially).

We can remove content and suspend or close accounts that break these rules.

Your content

You keep ownership of what you upload (like your avatar and bio). You give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host and display it as part of running House Finder. Only upload things you have the right to use.

Our content

The House Finder name, brand, design, and code are ours. Event information belongs to its respective sources. You can share links to House Finder pages freely — that's the point — but don't copy the platform.

Availability and changes to the service

House Finder is a free service and we're always improving it. Features (including Keys, alerts, and integrations) may change, be added, or be removed. We don't promise uninterrupted or error-free service, though we aim high.

Ending things

• You can stop using House Finder at any time, and can ask us to delete your account by emailing [email protected].
• We can suspend or close accounts that breach these terms, are under 18, or are being used to abuse the service. Where reasonable, we'll tell you why.
• On closure, unredeemed Keys lapse — they have no cash value and nothing is owed for them.

Liability

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes rights you have under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993, the Fair Trading Act 1986, or (for Australian users) the Australian Consumer Law, where those laws apply and can't be excluded.

Subject to that:

• House Finder is provided free of charge, and we're a discovery layer — we're not responsible for the events themselves, ticket sales, travel bookings, or the acts or omissions of ticketing sites, organisers, venues, or travel partners.
• We're not liable for losses caused by inaccurate third-party event information, provided we've acted with reasonable care and skill.
• We're not liable for indirect or consequential loss (like a wasted trip booked without checking the official ticketing page).
• If we're ever found liable to you despite the above, our total liability is capped at NZ$100.

If you're using House Finder for business purposes (e.g. as a promoter), you agree the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 does not apply to that use, as far as the law allows.

Changes to these terms

We'll update these terms as the platform grows (for instance, when Keys redemption launches). When we make material changes we'll post the updated terms here with a new "last updated" date and give you reasonable notice — for significant changes, by email or an in-app notice. If you keep using House Finder after the change takes effect, the new terms apply. If you don't agree with a change, stop using the service and ask us to close your account.

Governing law

These terms are governed by New Zealand law, and the New Zealand courts have non-exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute. If you're a consumer in Australia, this doesn't take away protections you're entitled to under Australian law.

General

If part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still stands. If we don't enforce a right straight away, we haven't given it up. These terms plus our Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between us about the service.
